I graduated Cum Laude from The University of Miami Law School in 1989
and spent the next two years working for Janet Reno as an Assistant
State Attorney in the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. I
prosecuted everything from DUIs to Traffic Homicides to Murder cases. My
in-depth accident analyses and crime scene reconstruction skills became
sharp and effective, and I took over 47 cases to jury trials, where I
developed an expert understanding of both sides of a criminal matter.
That’s when I saw an opportunity to help those who were needlessly
victimized. I went into private practice in 1991, exclusively handling
personal injury cases involving accidents and other scenarios where
unskilled victims needed assistance in getting justice for themselves,
their families or friends.
But July 4, 2011 was a reawakening for me, when I watched the 8 hours of
closing arguments on a rather notorious criminal trial in Florida. I was
riveted! That’s when I and realized how much I missed criminal trials,
and how protecting personal rights was what I really was passionate
about, not just personal injury!
