Hire a Personal Injury Lawyer
Why should I hire a personal injury lawyer to represent me in an accident or injury case if I already have or know a lawyer?

Answer:
Everyone knows someone who knows a lawyer. The reality is, there are so
many different types of lawyers that it is useless to accept a referral
to someone outside the practice area you need. So accepting a referral
to a Family Law attorney or a Bankruptcy attorney or a general
practitioner (who specialized in nothing) when you need an experienced,
personal injury attorney, may waste a great deal of your time, and
worse, may reduce the amount of your settlement. One of two things will
happen: either the lawyer will refer your case to a friend of his, who
does some personal injury work, whether he or she is a good lawyer or
not, or they will tell you “they can handle the case themselves,” even
though it is outside their area of specialty.
I suggest that either option is not a good one for your case. Unlike
other professionals, lawyers are allowed to accept referral fees from
each other for sending a case to another lawyer they know. This does not
lend itself to your case getting into the hands of the right lawyer for
the right reason: a referral from someone that does not have anything to
gain financially from the referral to the lawyer is always going to be
your best option.
